Lifting
Spirits. Six years ago, ATE Board Member Dennis Brochey read a letter from Ann Landers asking her readers to step up and help families of the soldiers stationed in Iraq. Many were hurting financially and not permitted to ask for help. So Dennis organized a bench press competition at the red brick schoolhouse in Lewiston. The first year they had 23 competitors. This year 123 participated. Over $50,000 has gone to help buy meals, Christmas presents and trees, and it gets bigger every year. The Red Brick Bench Press Championship is held every spring and benefits all branches of the US Military. If you would like to participate as a competitor, become a sponsor or donate on an individual level, please call Dennis at (716) 754-4009. There is more about Dennis Brochey in
this magazine. |
